Video Download Troubleshooting: Common Errors & Fixes

Encountering an issue while analyzing or downloading a video? Here is a breakdown of common error messages and how to resolve them.

[Error] "Analysis Failed: Source is private or unsupported"

Cause: The video you are trying to download is either hosted on a private social media profile (such as an Instagram private account, Facebook private group, or unshared drive), or the author deleted the post.

Solution: Ensure the video is set to Public. If it is your own account, switch the post or account privacy to Public temporarily to download the file.

[Error] "Copyright & DRM Protection Notice"

Cause: You pasted a link from a commercial subscription streaming platform (such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Spotify, or Apple Music).

Solution: InstaVideoDown strictly blocks DRM-protected services to comply with copyright laws. These platforms use hardware-encrypted streams that cannot and will not be decrypted.

[Issue] Video plays in a new browser tab instead of downloading

Cause: Some mobile browsers (especially Safari on older iOS versions or Chrome on certain tablets) attempt to preview MP4 media streams inline rather than triggering a file download.

Solution: Right-click the Download button (or long-press on mobile) and select "Download Link" or "Save Link As".

[Issue] Download speeds appear slow or stall midway

Cause: For 1080p Full HD downloads, InstaVideoDown must retrieve both the video track and the separate audio track from the host platform, then combine them using FFmpeg before sending the finalized file to your browser.

Solution: Allow 10 to 20 seconds for high-definition multiplexing to finish. If bandwidth is constrained, choose 720p or 480p for instant retrieval.
